Bear in The Yard...Again

Spring has officially begun when the bears come out in our neighborhood.

Bear in the Yard! First of the Spring photo by m.diaz Oh oh its getting closer! photo by g. emery Woa! I think it Likes me! photo by g. emery See ya or So I thought...photo by g. emery

My hub thought the bear was gone as it walked behind the shed but when he peaked around the shed he was greeted by a big, fat, furry head and well lets just say there are no pics of that!! LOL!! We had to run over to the neighbors and start yelling 'BEAR' as they had small children outside playing. I love seeing these gentle giants up close but I fear and respect them too.

I worked tirelessly all last night and this morning on updating my website so that small prints of my art can be bought through my site. Hopefully I'll be posting about that soon (still not done)!

Ok folks, the GIVEAWAY will be in two days and your odds of winning have increased as those who couldn't comment on every post have fallen by the wayside! On April 4th hub and I will roll the bingo cage - YOU must comment on April 4th to the most recent post with a NUMBER between 1 - 75 (that's how high the bingo balls go!) The winner will be posted on April 5th!! It could be you! - Remember you won't be able to claim the prize if I have no EMAIL for you.

A Bear sighting is the mark of Spring for us... What's the personal mark of Spring's arrival in your case??

I think bears are beautiful but have been scared of them ever since I saw an episode of Little House on the Prairie back in the early 80's where once of "Pa's" friends was mauled by a bear.
For me the first sign of Spring is the blooming of the Cherry Blossom tress here on the Columbia campus. It literally happens overnight and it brings the campus back to life.

Oh, man. That's really beautiful, he/she reminds me of molly so much! I can almost see her gait in these photos. MY MARK OF SPRING IS: the endless, endless sound of lawnmowers/leafblowers, all on the same note. It turns life into one long drone song, i just need nico to start singing in the background.

A personal mark of spring for me is any flower buds. But a bear will do nicely. :-)

Oh, wow! That's so cool that you have bears in your yard, all I have are turkeys and stuff.

For me, the spring starts when the trees start to grow their leaves again, and when flowers start to grow.

Wow that's so cool that a bear actually came that close to your house and you seem so calm about it lol! i guess your used to it :)

I know it's spring when the weather finally begins to cheer up from dread full winter days and when the cherry blossom trees bloom as well they are sooooooo pretty it makes n.y. not look like n.y but a calmer place! lol :) xoxoxoxxoxo :)

We have neighbourhood bears likethat too! One climbed over the fence of my uncle's yard last winter; they took pictures of him while hiding behind the screen door.

We don't have spring and giant bear here, we just have two season, rainy and dry season.
Maybe my personal mark of spring arrival is on the blogs i read, They all talk about spring.

Wow! Amazing!! I would never dream of something like that happening around here!
I know spring is around when my alergies get out of control. lol

Wow, that is so cool, yet scary. The most I get is a pigeon on my balcony lol.

Spring is slowly coming in here too. Today I saw the biggest rainbow I had ever seen. I know rain isn't exaclty a sign of spring, but it was sunny too. It was just a magic moment and made me feel like winter is gone now.

I can't wait till you pick the winner of the giveaway, I've really enjoyed your posts and am glad I found your blog!

What an incredible gift to have bears walk in your yard. It deeply saddens and disturbs me when I hear that they are euthenized when captured as opposed to be re-released in the woods. We (humans) have built so many houses which minimizes their environment. I truly LOVE animals and will often defend the rights of an animal versus the rights a human claims they have.

Anyhoo, the first sign of Spring for me before the beautiful cherry blossoms are the song and conversational chirpings of the birds on my fire escape. For me as a city dweller find such a wonderful comfort and peace when I hear them and love when my cats talk to them through the screened window.
;D
