Happy Pills - Cupcakes, Dolls and Creating

Art - The Best Therapy

I have been struggling since Saturday with the loss of my beloved Maya. I have felt helpless, alone, isolated, misunderstood and I faced the world with futility. Somehow in my life it always comes back to art. Simply making has become the best drug available. Last night, I sat in my studio for the first time since the fatal vet visit and it was the first moment of lightness, hope and peace I have felt.

So take it from me...there are no narcotics out there that can compete with a good 'ol night in the studio...if your blue - distract yourself with creating something that makes you smile and who knows you might make someone else smile too!

Glad to hear that you are beginning to find some peace through your art. I love the Dae sketch, she looks a bit like you to me.

I promise you that if it were not for creating art, I would be in a round rubber room looking for the corners by now. At times my "studio" has consisted of sitting on my bed painting, gluing, writing, coloring, sketching, etc...and now I have an entire room for my art and I still find myself sitting on my bed many times doing those same peace inducing acts. It got me through my mother's death, my father's death, my divorce, and on and on. Just a long way of saying that I know the peace that only art and creating can bring about in times of the deepest pain...I am glad you are finding solace there.
*Hugs*
Peace & Love,

My friend and Dalmatian went to sleep and didn't wake up yesterday. He was mine for almost 15 years, and it's so much harder than I ever dreamed it could be. Your art did make me smile today, so I thank you for that.
