Project Ourway

The mystery project from the last post is still in the works so check back soon to find out what it is!!
Everybody's guesses were so much fun to read:)

Project Ourway Poster

I happen to be the faculty advisor to a fantastic student club - formally known as Poster Club - as of last year we are now - The Promotional Arts Society and our fearless student leader, Isabella Whitney, was one of last years founders of a new yearly event - Project Ourway.

This year, Project Ourway is this Saturday-tomorrow! Students will:

Do a collaboration of the visual and performing arts, with student artwork on exhibit, stop-motion animation, videos, student-written and student-directed performances, spoken word, and a wearable art show.

I was so blessed to develop the original stop-motion animation curriculum that inspired last years amazing round-up of animations. This year they're still coming strong despite me! Here is a sneek peek to a stop -motion created by one of my hub's art students for this year's Project Ourway- Libby Ward:

So if you're around come enjoy the artstravaganza!

Flowering Fruit Trees

My fruit tress are flowering Yay!! I'm so excited, especially because I didn't expect the apple tree to make it, (as it bends kind of bizarrely out from the ground). We never really anchored it well when we planted it. I'm hoping they start providing us with some apples and pears soon! These pics are inspiring to me.

My Flowering Apple Tree- the first year! photo by m.diaz My Flowering Pear tree photo by m. diaz The OhHI! prize I won!!

As for the package, thats the prize I won from indie biz OhHi! shop which by the way, is going retail read all about it here! Love her stuff,it's immaculate and SEW well done! Quirky and elegant at the same time! I'm thinking I might be stopping by her etsy shop more often!

Well, I'm off to the studio to get something new done.

I'm in the mood to draw. I'm also in the mood to work on a handmade Kokeshi inspired laptop bag for one of my darling students, Emi Boscamp, before she goes off to college. I almost have all my lines memorized...lets see what happens...stay tuned.

Hipstamatic

While over visiting Redstarink's blog and having some Easter Morn mimosa's with her yesterday, I was introduced to 21stcentury Hipstamatic images.

The Hipstamatic camera is a plastic toy camera produced during 1982-1984 by Bruce and Winston Dorbowski, two brothers that remind me of the clever entrepreneuring bros Fred and George Weasley of Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes.

Well leave it to Iphone application designers to come up with an app that for me takes the cake on the best app totally worth the $1.99! The app comes with different lenses, film and even flashes like one called lemon pop!

The app website is wonderful too and they even host a monthly contest show in which you can win a $100 Itunes gift card! I think I want to enter but I might need your help on choosing which images fit the theme the best.

But for now here are my first test runs with my new Hipstamatic camera on the Iphone and glimpses of my Easter Sunday!

Another Amazing Stop Motion...

I was hopping around the blogosphere and I came across Angela Kohler's wonderful blog through checking out my new classmate Breanne Sinibaldi's blog (she's a photographer and graphic designer). I had to post about this for all of my students who have a stop-motion animation soft-spot like me!

Blythe & Pullip Art

I've started an illustration based off of a photograph of a shelf in my studio and decided to scan the drawing and dump color in digitally. Sometimes it's fun to just fool-around and play. Not to mention it's a great way to destress! You gotta love photoshop!

If you have 4min to be inspired see -Japanese Creative Takeuchi Taijin's Stop Motion

One of my art students turned me on to this video and we couldn't watch it enough!!! It is absolutely brilliant and gets better and better as you watch. So if you're a creative and want to get those juices flowing watch this video.

It's a stop-motion of a stop-motion - with around 1,300 photo stills making up the process. Watch for some of the highlights like an elevator ride up the wall, a swimming pool sequence in the sink and an awesome finale - Enjoy!!Still Shot from Takeuchi's Stop Motion

And you thought life between a wolf and pig was pretty straight forward- tsk tsk.
